Brain Computer Interface Technology: Interactive Applications You Probably Never Thought About

The Brain Computer Interface will also undoubtedly change our world and lives with unparalleled, unprecedented, disruption. The new technology will also bring with it, new threats. With the threats, with the disruptions, the Brain Computer Interface will also bring along with it new possibilities. EEG_Recording_Cap

In the year 2025, whether it is an Apple product, a Google product or a Samsung product you are purchasing for your computing or communication needs, it will more likely than not, be Brain Computer Interface enabled. By 2030, anything with current interface systems, will no longer be sell-able, except perhaps in collectors’ or antiques stores.

It is needless to say and one can easily assume, that by 2025‘s end, we will be creating Word documents not by typing, but thinking, with easy formatting; whatever you imagine, becomes the layout and background of the document. The same goes for Powerpoint presentations and Excel sheets. All that is too easy to foresee and there will be no surprise. Also unsurprising, will be blogging, Vlogging and Life-logging directly by thought.

The more important and more exciting question is, what will be new with technology, that has not been possible before the discovery, and introduction, of the Brain Computer Interface?

The secret to futuring or forecasting the new applications not previously possible, of the Brain Computer Interface technology, lies in how it works; Picking up and deciphering Brainwaves or the Brain Signals of the user’s thoughts.

Sincerity and Fidelity Detection

In the 2014, if someone asks you out or proposes to you, for a relationship, would you know, if there is a hidden agenda or an ulterior motive undisclosed? Quite objectively, it really is a leap of faith, because you can look into someone’s eyes, which figuratively, are windows to the soul. However, very honestly, you really cannot get into the mind of anyone, not literally at least, even of someone you love the most.

The dating game changes however, when you can be sure you know what and how someone feels about you. If you have a device, that picks up and deciphers brain signals for instructions, you can also build a device, that picks up and deciphers brain signals for intentions or emotive thoughts.

In Brain-to-Brain communication through the net, using Brain Computer Interface devices, each party to a conversation may have the option, to pick up more, than the other would want to have known, such as, the truth behind the words or message; the intention.

The same can apply in job interviews or media interviews. If you are a celebrity or a public figure, lying is going to be a problem in such a situation. And if you say something like, “I prefer to speak using my voice without all this technology I do not believe in”, you will more likely than not raise eyebrows.

The employer gains the most with such application, where he or she, is likely to pick the most sincere and suitable employees, thanks to a means of knowing the candidate, unfortunately unavailable at present.

A downside here is, you can hold no trump-cards in business negotiations.

Staff Communication

If in an office space or in a remote work team, every member, or every rank and file, is networked on a communication system, brain-to-brain, which picks-up emotive signals from each brain, a staff or team member may be forewarned of the mood or emotional state of the colleague or superior or subordinate. As such, the communication decision can be tailored. Talk to the right person, when he or she is in the right mood or emotional state, about a subject.

With this factoring of EQ in internal communication, a team’s or organisation’s unity and performance are likely to see a significant boost.

Thought Interactive Advertising

If you are hungry and thinking of food, and an advertisement or an offer pops up from your favourite restaurant or food franchise on your HMD, lens or other visual display, directing you to the nearest outlet, fastest delivery option, whatever is special today and so on, would that not be convenient?

If you are in business, and you know, from what your target consumer or customer is thinking, what her or she is thinking about or wants, when he or she wants it, or needs it, would that not be convenient in reaching out with a pitch, an ad or an offer?

The concept is not difficult. The consumer is always thinking. The system or network picks up these thoughts and connects them or matches them with what you are selling, and directs ads or offers to the consumers when they are thinking about your product or service, to draw the consumers into a transaction. Marketing at thought level basically.

The most invasive application one can think of, if the computer interacts directly with the human brain to read thoughts, is that for law enforcement or national security, in retrieving reliable information. To this end, if the Brain Computer Interface is used for interrogation, the conventional lie-detector will naturally be disrupted, because you have a more reliable system, that follows thought signals, picks them and deciphers them. The interrogator can tell, from this deciphering, how the subject is responding an therefore, if or not, the subject is being truthful.

Thought Interactive Teaching

Imagine if a teacher can look into the mind of a student, to be able to map the thought-process, identify where the flaw is that causes an impediment to learning, and then tweaks the teaching method to cater to that particular student, to help him or her towards adjusting that thought process, for better learning?

Education is a fundamental priority of most nations, with certain nations under rogue regimes an exception perhaps, this is a high-profit market, for anyone willing to put in the effort to develop such applications.
